Cocktails explode at two locations in Dhaka

Cocktail explosions were reported at two locations in the capital on Sunday evening, outside Dhaka University Metro Station and at Nilkhet intersection. No casualties were reported.

According to police and local sources, a cocktail exploded with a loud bang outside Dhaka University Metro Station at around 6:45 PM. Passers-by could not identify those responsible.

Around the same time, another cocktail exploded on the road at Nilkhet intersection. The attackers fled after the explosion.

Separately, unidentified people set fire to a school bus in the Bhatara area of the capital on Sunday evening. The bus belonged to Jolsiri Cantonment School and College and was parked on the 100 Feet Road near Notun Bazar. The fire spread quickly, but no casualties were reported.

The incidents came a day after two buses were set on fire in the capital. A Bihanga Paribahan bus caught fire near Pallabi Metro Station around 10:00 PM on Saturday, while a parked Shohagh Paribahan bus was set ablaze behind Mohakhali Bus Terminal around 1:00 AM on Sunday.

The Shohagh bus was completely gutted before Fire Service personnel brought the blaze under control. No casualties were reported in either incident.

Cocktail explosions were also reported near the Setu Bhaban in Banani and Mohakhali on Saturday.
