CHATTOGRAM, Mar 1: Police have arrested seven accused in a case filed in connection with the attack on the Abul Khair Steel Melting Limited (AKSML) factory in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong.
They were arrested in various areas of Sonaichhari union of the upazila on Saturday night.
The arrested were identified as Md. Jamal, 38, Ramzan Ali, 28, Md. Roni, 20, Md. Eshak, 48, Arshadur Rahman, 20, Md. Alauddin, 48 and Md. Khokon, 30.
Sitakunda Model Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohinul Islam said that they have arrested seven accused in connection with the attack on the AKSML Steel factory. The operation to arrest the remaining three accused and unidentified accused is ongoing.
Earlier, on Wednesday around 1:00 am a group of 20-25 robbers armed with country-made weapons entered the security room injured the security guards of the factory vandalized the furniture and set the factory on fire like a rocket launcher. At one point, due to the combined resistance of the locals and the security guards, they retreated and looted Tk 20,000 from the security guards' drawers while leaving.
