The Bangladesh Army and local administration have launched a drive at Dighinala upazila of Khagrachhari district to prevent any artificial shortage of fuel, warning traders against illegal stockpiling.

The operation was carried out jointly by Dighinala Zone of the Army and the Dighinala upazila administration to ensure that fuel traders do not create an artificial crisis by hoarding petroleum products.

Officials said concerns over possible disruptions in the global fuel market due to ongoing instability in different parts of the world have led some traders to attempt illegal stockpiling.

Acting on such information, the authorities launched the field-level drive in the area.

During the first day of the operation, traders were warned not to hoard fuel or engage in activities that could disrupt normal supply.

Dighinala Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tanzil Parvez, Captain Abdullah Al Azmi of Dighinala Zone and leaders of the local market traders’ association were present during the drive.
