'Mugger' beaten to death in N'ganj

A mugger was lynched by a mob in Narayanganj's Siddhirganj while trying to snatch away valuables from a passerby on Sunday morning.
The incident took place at 6AM in the Karitala area of Jalkuri.
Two other muggers were managed to flee leaving their motorbike. Later, the angry mob burnt the motorcycle.
However, the name and identity of the deceased could not be known.
It is reported that three muggers, riding on a motorcycle, intercepted a passerby in an attempt to commit a robbery. Sensing the incident, the local residents chased them and captured one of the muggers. They then beat him and he died on the spot.
Abdul Barik, Officer-in-Charge of Siddhirganj Police Station, said that a mugger died in a mob beating before the police reached the spot.
The body of the deceased has been sent to the Narayanganj General Hospital morgue.
Efforts are underway to identity the deceased, the OC added.
