3-member probe body formed over Bagerhat tragic accident

A three-member investigation committee has been formed by Bagerhat district administration following a fatal head-on collision between a Navy bus and a microbus on the Mongla-Khulna Highway, which claimed lives of 14 people.

The formation of the committee was confirmed on Friday by Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner (DC) Golam Md. Baten. 

Acting as the head of the committee, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Mezbah Uddin has been tasked with submitting a full report within the next ten working days. 

The other two members of the committee are Additional Superintendent of Police of Rampal Circle and an inspector from Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).

Speaking about the committee, the DC said, “This committee, formed with representatives from district administration, police and BRTA, will conduct a detailed investigation into how this tragic accident occurred and identify any negligence. Those found responsible will face strict action under the law.”

The accident occurred on Thursday afternoon near Gunai Bridge at Rampal upazila on the Mongla-Khulna Highway. 

Among the victims were 13 members of a single family, bringing the total death toll to 14. 

The tragedy has caused widespread grief and anger in the area and within the administration.
