Man fined for illegal sand extraction in Bagerhat

A mobile court fined a man for illegally extracting sand from a pond in Bagerhat’s Fakirhat upazila on Friday afternoon.

According to administration, a team of officials led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md Newaz Sharif conducted a mobile court in Betaga area and fined an individual Tk 50,000 for illegal sand extraction.

The fined individual was identified as Debashish Das.

Speaking about the drive, Executive Magistrate Md Newaz Sharif said that such operations would continue to prevent illegal sand extraction from rivers and ponds in order to protect the environment and safeguard public interests.
