Operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka continue to face disruptions as the number of cancelled flights has reached 475 amid the ongoing security situation in the Middle East.
Airport authorities said 24 more flights were cancelled on Saturday, adding to the growing number of suspended services over the past two weeks.
According to airport sources, several Middle Eastern countries - including Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan - have temporarily closed their airspace since February 28 due to security risks linked to the ongoing conflict in the region.
The airspace restrictions have directly affected flights operating between Dhaka and various destinations in the Middle East, forcing airlines to cancel services.
Flight cancellations began on February 28, when 23 flights from Dhaka were cancelled. The number rose to 40 on March 1, 46 on March 2, 39 on March 3, 28 on March 4, 36 on March 5, 34 on March 6, 28 on March 7, 28 on March 8, 33 on March 9, 32 on March 10, 27 on March 11, 28 on March 12, 25 on March 13, and 24 on March 14, bringing the total to 475 flights.
