Anti-mosquito drive to prevent dengue launched in Gopalganj 

 
GOPALGANJ, Mar 16: Authorities in Gopalganj have launched a coordinated drive to prevent dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases across the district.

Under the initiative, a decision has been taken to conduct integrated anti-mosquito operations every Saturday in different areas of the district.

The campaign began on Saturday morning with canal cleaning activities near the helipad area and the Markaz Mosque in the district town. At the same time, mosquito control operations using fogger machines were carried out in drains and bushy areas around the hospital zone.

To raise public awareness, the district information office arranged day-long microphone announcements across the district.

The initiative has been jointly undertaken by the district administration and the Gopalganj municipality. Officials said similar activities would gradually be expanded to all upazilas and unions in the district.

Earlier in the morning, an awareness meeting was held at the 'Swachchhata' conference room of the deputy commissioner's office.
