20 injured in Gopalganj clashes

GOPALGANJ, June 2: At least 20 people were injured and houses were vandalised in clashes that broke out over the arrest of thieves in Ghagharkanda-Beparipara Village of Kotalipara Upazila of the district on Monday evening.

It is known that the anti-drug committee members of the village detained Morsalin Mia of Kathiga Village, Russell Daria of Chitashi Village and Abdullah Daria of Ghagharkanda-Beparipara Village in the anti-drug committee office at Ghagharkanda-Beparipara Village on charges of stealing batteries. When the incident spread in the area, people from Kathiga and Chitashi villages vandalised the office and kidnapped the detainees.

Officer-in-Charge of Kotalipara Police Station Md Riyad Mahmud said that no party has filed a complaint in this incident so far.
