Flood-hit day-labourer gets aid

HABIGANJ, June 2: The district administration has stood by the helpless people affected by the recent flash flood in the haor area of the district. As part of this, a one-time financial assistance of Tk 1 lakh has been provided to Gazi Mia, a day-labourer from Dattapara Village of Sujatpur Union in Baniachong Upazila, for the construction of a house.
According to district administration sources, Gazi Mia's house was flooded and became uninhabitable. In view of this, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr G M Sarfaraz handed over a cash donation cheque of Tk 1 lakh to Gazi Mia at a function organised at the office of the Habiganj DC on Monday.
While handing over the cheque, the DC said that the district administration is committed to the rehabilitation of the flood-hit people in the haor area. Such humanitarian assistance activities will continue. Senior officials of the district administration were present at the time.
