Father killed in son’s stabbing in Kurigram

An elderly man was killed after being stabbed by his son in Kurigram's Nageshwari upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Khalek, a retired member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). The accused, Manik Mia, 25, is his younger son.

The incident occurred around 11:30 AM in Satani Para village under Ward No 4 of Santoshpur union. 

According to locals, an argument broke out between the father and son over a family matter in the morning. At one stage, Manik Mia allegedly became enraged, brought a sharp knife from the house and attacked his father.

Abdul Khalek sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.

Being informed, police rushed to the scene and arrested the accused.

Nageshwari Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abdullah Hil Jaman confirmed the incident, saying the accused has been taken into custody and preparations are underway to file a case.
