Indian President extends Independence Day greetings to Bangladesh

Indian President Droupadi Murmu has extended warm greetings to the people of Bangladesh on the occasion of its Independence and National Day.

In a letter addressed to President Mohammed Shahabuddin, she wrote, “On behalf of the Government, the people of India and on my own behalf, I extend warm greetings and felicitations to Your Excellency and to the friendly people of Bangladesh on the occasion of your National Day.”

Highlighting the close historical and cultural connections between the two nations, President Murmu noted, “India and Bangladesh are bound by a shared history, deep cultural linkages and enduring linguistic traditions that form the foundation of our close partnership.”

She added that both countries have made significant progress in people-centered development, including areas such as connectivity, trade, power and energy, capacity building and education, delivering tangible benefits to citizens on both sides of the border.

Reaffirming India’s commitment to further cooperation, she stated, “India looks forward to working closely with Bangladesh to further strengthen our bilateral partnership and to advance regional peace, stability and prosperity.”

The letter concluded with best wishes, emphasizing her continued consideration for the Government and people of Bangladesh.
