SINGRA, NATORE,  Mar 29: A mobile court in Singra Upazila of Natore has fined a lorry manager Tk 50,000 after 2,000 litres of petrol and diesel went missing during delivery. In default of payment, he faces one month imprisonment.
The incident occurred Saturday night at Akhi Filling Station in Jamtali Bazar, where the lorry was unloading fuel. Executive Magistrate and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdullah Al Rifat, who was inspecting filling stations to curb illegal fuel trading, discovered the shortage.
Officials said the lorry had been allocated 4,500 litres of petrol and an equal amount of diesel. However, checks revealed 1,500 litres of petrol and 500 litres of diesel were missing. The lorry manager, identified as Abu Sayed of Shahjadpur in Sirajganj, was  penalised under the Consumer Rights Protection Act.
