Fraudulent BMU director claim sends man to jail

A man identifying himself as Irfan Jahan Noor has been detained for allegedly attempting to assume the post of director at the Super Specialized Hospital of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) using a forged presidential gazette notification.

The incident came to light on Monday when hospital authorities verified the document and found it to be fraudulent. He was later handed over to Shahbagh Police Station, according to a press statement from the health ministry.

The fake notification claimed that, with the approval of the President and Chancellor, "Dr Irfan Jahan Noor" had been appointed as director of the Super Specialized Hospital of Bangladesh Medical University in Dhaka under provisions of the Bangladesh Medical University Act, 2025.

However, authorities said they could not verify whether "Dr Irfan Jahan Noor" is his real name or if he is a registered medical practitioner.
