Police have recovered eight plastic drums containing a total of 1,360 liters of diesel found abandoned in a canal at Ramgati upazila in Laxmipur district.

The owner of the diesel has not yet been identified. The market value of the seized fuel is estimated at Tk 136,000.

According to Additional Police Superintendent (Administration and Finance) Hosain Mohammad Raihan Kazemi, the drums were discovered on the night of March 31 after police received a tip-off.

The abandoned containers were located along the southern edge of the fish landing center at Asolpara village under ward no. 6 of the upazila municipality.

Authorities suspect that some unscrupulous traders brought the fuel illegally from Bhola district to store it in Ramgati for resale at higher prices.

Later, With the assistance of local workers, police seize drums and secured them.

No information about the owner of the diesel has been found so far, the officer added.
