Bangladesh has set a new remittance record, with inflows reaching an unprecedented $3.75 billion by the end of March 2026, according to Bangladesh Bank - the highest ever recorded in the nation's history.

This is not a routine increase or seasonal fluctuation driven by short-term factors.

It is a decisive leap that clearly establishes a new financial benchmark for the country.

The previous record, set in March 2025 at $3.29 billion, has now been surpassed with authority and a significant margin that signals sustained momentum.

The growth trajectory had been building steadily over recent months before accelerating sharply.

March did not just continue the trend, it transformed it into a historic surge.

Private commercial banks carried the largest share of remittance flows, while state-owned and specialized banks added consistent volume to the overall inflow.

This performance reflects the resilience and expanding contribution of Bangladeshi workers abroad.

Their remittances are now driving one of the strongest external financial inflows ever witnessed.

The impact is immediate and far-reaching, strengthening foreign exchange reserves and reinforcing macroeconomic stability at a critical time.
