Toddler drowns in Bhola pond

A toddler died after drowning in a pond in Bhola’s Lalmohan upazila on Sunday noon.

The deceased was identified as Md Alif, son of Md Obaidur Rahman Kajol Munshi, a resident of Char Chakina area under Kalma union.

According to family sources, Alif had been playing in the courtyard with other children when he accidentally fell into a nearby pond adjacent to their house. When he was not seen for a while, family members began searching for him.

At one stage, he was found floating in the pond and was quickly rescued and taken to Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Lalmohan Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Oliul Islam confirmed the death and said that the body has been handed over to the deceased’s family.
