Fire at Tongi's Millgate slum doused

A fire that broke out at Millgate slum in Tongi area of Gazipur district on Monday evening was brought under control within a short time.

According to fire department officials, the blaze started around 6:30 PM.

Being alerted, four fire service units rushed to the scene and managed to douse the blaze within nearly 30 minutes of efforts.

However, no immediate reports of casualties were confirmed.

Tongi Fire Service senior station officer Md Shahin Alam said that the cause of the fire could not be determined right away and an assessment is underway.
