2 brothers drown in N’ganj

Two minor brothers drowned in a pond while playing football in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj district on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Adnan, 10 and Abraham, 7, sons of Ziaur Rahman of Meherpur district. The family had been living as tenants in the Kanchpur union area for the past four years. Both children were students of a local madrasa.

According to family members, the incident occurred around 10:30 AM when the duo were playing football near a pond beside their residence in Rayertek village. At one stage, the ball fell into the pond and they went in to retrieve it but drowned.

Failing to find them, family members and locals launched a search and later recovered the bodies from the pond.

After the duo were taken to a nearby hospital, the on-duty doctors declared them dead.

Additional Superintendent of Police (K-circle) Imran Ahmed confirmed the incident.
