BAGERHAT, Apr 10: Four children showing symptoms of measles have been admitted to Bagerhat District Hospital and placed in the isolation ward for treatment.

Their samples have been sent to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) for testing.

Doctors at the hospital advised parents not to be panicked if measles symptoms appear in children, but to seek medical care promptly.

The admitted children, aged between six months and one and a half years, were suffering from fever and rashes, said Tapas Kumar Sarkar, resident medical officer of the hospital.

Meanwhile, Bagerhat district unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has launched an awareness campaign to prevent the spread of measles. Activists distributed leaflets and used loudspeakers in the town to inform locals about the disease.

Al Imran Mamun, a leader of the district Chatra Dal, said, "As measles cases have recently been reported, we started campaigning to raise awareness among residents."
