The bodies of 34 Bangladeshi expatriates who passed away in Kuwait, Malaysia, and Libya arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday.
According to the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, the repatriation of these bodies had been delayed for a significant period due to the ongoing conflict situations in the Middle East.
Airport sources confirmed that the remains arrived on three separate flights. Among the deceased, 30 individuals were repatriated from Kuwait, while two each returned from Malaysia and Libya.
Upon the arrival of the remains, the Wage Earners' Welfare Board, under the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare, provided Taka 35,000 to each family to cover burial and transportation costs.
Authorities assured the bereaved families that any additional financial benefits or insurance claims would be processed and paid out as quickly as possible.
Senior officials from the airport and representatives from the Wage Earners' Welfare Board were present during the formal handover of the bodies to the grieving relatives.
