Former Awami League lawmaker Nur Mohammad has been sent to jail after being produced before a Jamalpur court in connection with a sabotage case, while a hearing on his bail petition has been set for next week.
A court in Jamalpur on Thursday ordered former Awami League Member of Parliament Nur Mohammad, who represented the Jamalpur-1 constituency, to be sent to jail in connection with a sabotage case.
The order was issued by the Court of Judicial Magistrate (First), presided over by Judge Tanzina Akter, after the former lawmaker was produced before the court.
Public Prosecutor Advocate Anisuzzaman Gama said the court also fixed July 14 for a hearing on Nur Mohammad's bail petition.
Nur Mohammad was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) from his residence in the capital's Gulshan area on the night of June 27.
He was later shown arrested in a case filed with Tejgaon Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Explosive Substances Act.
Further legal proceedings in the case are expected following the scheduled bail hearing on July 14.
