Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman declared on Friday that the government is steadfast in its mission to eliminate systemic corruption from the nation's judicial system.

Speaking as the chief guest at the opening of the newly constructed Jashore District Bar Association building, the minister addressed ongoing debates regarding judicial independence.

He specifically referenced the landmark Masdar Hossain case, noting that while independence is vital, it must not serve as a shield for malpractice.

"We have no interest in fostering a judiciary plagued by the type of corruption seen in the past. Our goal is to tear out the roots of graft entirely," Asaduzzaman told the gathering of legal professionals.

The minister also responded to public discourse surrounding several high-profile legislative issues, including the July Charter, the National Human Rights Commission, and the proposed Judiciary Secretariat Act.

He assured the audience that every law would undergo rigorous scrutiny before being presented as a bill in Parliament to ensure transparency and effectiveness.

Addressing political criticisms, Asaduzzaman dismissed claims that the BNP was distancing itself from the July Charter. "The spirit of the July Charter is embedded in the very veins of our party," he stated, while acknowledging that certain sections of the document require review to address instances of "fraudulence."

He reaffirmed the government's commitment to fulfilling its promises regarding the charter.

The event also featured speeches from special guests, including State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit (MP, Jashore-3) and BNP Central Committee Vice-Chairman Professor Nargis Begum.

The session was presided over by Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, President of the Jashore District Bar Association.

Prior to the inauguration, the Law Minister visited the Karbala graveyard in Jashore to offer prayers at the grave of the late BNP leader and former minister Tariqul Islam.

He also conducted an inspection of the historic District Judge Court building in the town.
