Nusrat Tabassum, joint convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), who had earlier declared herself inactive during the party's alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami in the 13th National Parliament elections, is set to enter parliament as a reserved female candidate.

The Election Commission (EC) on Saturday declared her nomination valid following scrutiny conducted in compliance with a High Court order.

Officials confirmed that the decision was taken after a legal review of the nomination papers, and a formal announcement will be made following standard procedures. A briefing is expected at the EC's media centre on behalf of the party.

The development follows a directive issued by the High Court on April 27, instructing the acceptance of her nomination papers. In compliance with the order, the returning officer accepted the papers on April 29.
