Mother, daughter hacked to death in Ctg

A mother and her daughter have been hacked to death in their own home in Chattogram’s Anwara Upazila.

The incident occurred in Purba Konnara village in Paroiakora Upazila on Saturday night, police said.

The dead have been identified as local residents Annie Barua, 40, and her 16-year-old daughter Priyanti Barua.

Mahmudul Hasan, assistant superintendent of Chattogram District Police (Anwara Circle), said unknown perpetrators entered the home at night and slashed at the two with sharp weapons. Police went to the scene and found the bloodied bodies of the two victims.

Anniei’s five-year-old child was also injured in the attack, but the injuries are not critical, Mahmudul said.
The police official said that Annie’s husband Sujon Barua works as a guard in Chattogram city and she lived at home with her two children.

“Initially, we have learned that Annie had many problems with close relatives. Other family members suspect she may have been killed over the dispute,” Mahmudul said.

Police are following up on the lead and are working to arrest the perpetrators, the ASP said.�"bdnews24
