A giant katla fish, weighing approximately 21.5 kilograms, has been sold for Tk 44,000 at the Daulatdia fish market in Goaland upazila of Rajbari.
On Tuesday morning, local fish trader Samrat Shahjahan Sheikh, owner of a
fisheries depot in the Daulatdia No. 5 ferry ghat area, purchased the

According to the sources, fisherman Nabin Halder and his team caught the fish earlier at dawn in the Padma River near the Char Korneshan Majlishpur area. They had cast their nets late Monday night and the unusually large catla was found trapped in the early hours.
Later, the fish was brought to Anu Kha's wholesale depot where it was auctioned openly at Tk 2,000 per kilogram. The rare size drew a crowd of curious locals eager to witness the auction.
Trader Samrat Shahjahan Sheikh said he transported the fish to Dhaka's Shonir Akhra for Tk 44,000, making a profit of Tk 50 per kilogram.
He also supplied additional Padma River shrimp and bele fish to the buyer.
