6 more children die from measles, symptoms in 24hrs

Six more children have died in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday morning, with four deaths linked to measles-related symptoms and two from confirmed infections.

According to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the country also recorded 1,186 new suspected measles cases and 259 confirmed cases during the same period.

The DGHS reported that since March 15, the total number of confirmed measles cases has reached 5,726, while suspected cases have risen sharply to 42,979.

Over this period, 54 deaths have been confirmed as caused by measles, while an additional 263 deaths have been recorded among suspected cases.

Meanwhile, a total of 26,368 patients have recovered from the disease so far, the DGHS added.
