Bangladesh rise to 8th in T20 rankings, overtake Sri Lanka

Bangladesh have moved up to eighth place in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s T20 team rankings, overtaking Sri Lanka in the updated standings.

The revised rankings give full weight to matches played since May 2025, while results from the previous two years are weighted at 50 percent.

Sri Lanka slipped to ninth after losing six rating points, whereas Bangladesh climbed to eighth with 225 points following a one-point gain.

At the top, India national cricket team continue to dominate the rankings after winning the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. India sit on 275 points, maintaining a narrow lead over England cricket team, who are second with 262 points. Australia national cricket team are close behind in third place with 258 points.

The rest of the top seven remains unchanged, with New Zealand national cricket team (247 points), South Africa national cricket team (244), Pakistan national cricket team (240) and West Indies cricket team (233) occupying fourth to seventh positions.

Afghanistan national cricket team are ranked 10th with 220 points, while Zimbabwe national cricket team and Ireland cricket team hold on to 11th and 12th places respectively.
