Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi said on Sunday (August 16) that Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman should visit India soon.

He stressed that high-level meetings and discussions are the only way to resolve existing issues between the two neighboring countries.

The Indian diplomat made the remarks at a dinner hosted by Honorary Consul of Ireland Masud Jamil Khan and his wife Kate Jaro Khan in the capital's Baridhara area.

"I am very optimistic. The people-to-people ties between Bangladesh and India are deeply rooted. The two nations share not just a border, but also a common vision," High Commissioner Trivedi said.

Acknowledging existing challenges, he noted that both Bangladesh and India are sovereign nations. "We have challenges, without a doubt. If there are no challenges, it is not a democracy. No matter how chaotic democracy may appear, it always provides space for dialogue and solutions," he added.

Trivedi mentioned that differences of opinion and debate are natural between democratic neighbors.

He highlighted that both Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are leaders deeply connected with their people and share common goals.

"When two such leaders meet and hold talks, there is no issue that cannot be resolved," the Indian High Commissioner stated.

He expressed confidence that regular communication and high-level engagement between the leadership of both nations will further bolster bilateral ties.
