Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped his strongest hint yet that his illustrious playing career could come to a close at the end of the 2026-27 season.
In an interview published by lifestyle magazine Vogue, the 41-year-old Al-Nassr forward revealed that he is preparing for what will likely be his final year on the pitch.
"This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy," Ronaldo told the publication.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who recently tied the knot with long-time partner Georgina Rodríguez in Portugal, stated that he has already mapped out his post-retirement life to fill the void that walking away from the sport will naturally create.
"I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard," he explained. "Football could leave a big hole, so you have to fill your time in various ways. I want to have more fun, travel more, watch and play padel, and continue to enjoy what we've earned after 25 years of immense sacrifice."
Ronaldo's senior career began at Sporting CP in 2002 before iconic spells at Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and currently Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr. With 976 career goals for club and country, the legendary forward enters his final stretch needing just 24 more goals to reach the unprecedented milestone of 1,000 professional goals.
