12 more die from measles, symptoms in 24hrs

Twelve more individuals have died in the 24 hours leading up to Thursday afternoon, with 11 deaths linked to measles-related symptoms and one from a confirmed measles infection.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the information was disclosed by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room on Thursday afternoon.

The DGHS reported that since March 15, the total number of confirmed measles cases has reached 6,208, while suspected cases have risen to 45,498 across the country.

During the same period, 57 deaths have been confirmed as caused by measles, while another 279 deaths were recorded among suspected cases.

Meanwhile, a total of 31,912 patients have been admitted to hospitals with suspected measles infections and 28,238 patients have so far recovered and returned home, the DGHS added.
