The announcement came at a press briefing held at the party's central office by the NCP Local Government Election Steering Committee. It was attended by Committee Chairman Sarjis Alam and leaders. The remaining candidates for chairman and mayoral posts across the country will be named in phases.

At the press briefing, NCP Spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan urged the government to announce the schedule for the local government polls without further delay.

Of the 100 candidates, 50 were nominated for Upazila Parishad chairman posts and 50 for municipality mayoral positions.
