9 more die from measles, symptoms in 24hrs

Nine more individuals have died in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday afternoon, with six deaths linked to measles-related symptoms and three from confirmed measles infections.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the information was disclosed by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room on Tuesday afternoon.

The DGHS reported that since March 15, the total number of confirmed measles cases has reached 7,024, while suspected cases have risen to 51,567 across the country.

During the same period, 68 deaths have been confirmed as caused by measles, while another 356 deaths were recorded among suspected cases.

Meanwhile, a total of 36,881 patients have been admitted to hospitals with suspected measles infections and 32,877 patients have so far recovered and returned home, the DGHS added.
