UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, has said that 149,769 newly arrived Rohingyas were registered in Bangladesh between December 2024 and March 2026, including 2,780 registered last month alone.
UNHCR disclosed the figures in its monthly report published on Wednesday. The agency identified a total of 1,194,123 Rohingya refugees in the camps. In March, the number of newly registered Rohingyas stood at 146,989.
As of 30 April, UNHCR had registered 1,044,354 Rohingya refugees displaced from Myanmar since 1990 and 2017. Of them, 39,691 arrived after 1990, while 1,004,663 arrived following the 2017 exodus.
Nearly 150,000 new arrival since Dec'24
The report said escalating conflict in Rakhine State has continued to push new refugees into Bangladesh since 2024. A fresh wave of arrivals was identified in the camps toward the end of last year, with biometric registration still underway.
According to UNHCR, targeted violence and persecution in Myanmar's Rakhine State since 2024 have killed thousands, forcing Rohingya refugees to flee to Bangladesh in search of safety.
