Is Sept 23 public holiday?

September 23, which falls on Wednesday, will mark the observance of Fateha-e-Yazdaham, a day of religious significance for many Muslims.
But the day will not be a mandatory public holiday across Bangladesh.
According to the annual holiday calendar issued by the Ministry of Education, educational institutions at the secondary and higher-secondary levels, as well as various universities, are scheduled to remain closed on September 23 in observance of Fateha-e-Yazdaham.
Regular activities will resume on Thursday (September 24) followed by the weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday (September 25 and 26).
Fateha-e-Yazdaham is observed in Bangladesh and elsewhere in remembrance of the death anniversary of Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA). The occasion is marked with religious gatherings and observances.
But the day will not be a mandatory public holiday across Bangladesh.
According to the government’s list of religious and general holidays, Fateha-e-Yazdaham is classified as an optional holiday. As a result, government, semi-government and autonomous offices will remain open as usual on September 23.
Meanwhile, educational institutions may follow their own holiday calendars when deciding whether to suspend classes for the occasion.

Employees from Hindu and other religious communities may also take an optional holiday on September 23, subject to approval under the government’s optional-holiday provisions.
