Measles death toll hits 453 as 2 more die in 24hrs

Two more children have died from measles-related symptoms over the past 24 hours, both reported in Sylhet division. 

Health authorities also recorded 961 new symptomatic cases and 108 laboratory-confirmed infections between Friday and Saturday mornings.

According to the latest report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the total death toll from measles and related symptoms has risen to 453 since mid-March. This figure includes 379 deaths from symptoms and 74 from confirmed cases.

A division-wise breakdown shows that Dhaka has recorded the highest number of fatalities with 150 deaths, followed by the Rajshahi division with 78. 

Since the outbreak escalated on March 15, a total of 56,572 children have displayed symptoms, while 7,524 have been officially diagnosed with the disease.

Hospitalization data reveals that 41,028 children have been admitted for treatment across the country over the last two months. 

Of these, 36,645 children have recovered and been discharged. 

Health officials continue to urge parents to remain vigilant as the number of infections remains high.
