British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cook has expressed interest in expanding UK investment in Bangladesh, particularly in sectors that can create new employment opportunities and strengthen bilateral economic ties.
She made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Thursday.
During the meeting, the British envoy expressed hope that relations between Bangladesh and the UK would further deepen under the current government.
The discussions covered cooperation in technical education and training, expansion of bilateral trade and increasing British investment in Bangladesh.
Sarah Cook also showed interest in investment opportunities in the aviation sector following the opening of the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of skills development and strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries.
Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir were present at the meeting.
