
RANGAMATI, May 16: "The three hill district councils will be formed very soon after completing the necessary activities," said Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Dipen Dewan in response to questions from journalists after the formal inauguration of the BRAC Kumon Learning Centre on the Monoghar Residential School and College premises in the town on Saturday morning.
He said that the current district council is in an interim process, and it will remain in this process until the elections are held. The district councils will be formed with representatives of all communities in accordance with the provisions of the interim law.
The inauguration ceremony of the centre, which was jointly organised by BRAC Kumon Limited and Monoghor, was attended by President of Monoghor Shraddhalankar Mahather, Chief Business Officer of BRAC Kumon Limited Nehal Bin Hasan, Country Representative and Managing Director of MHSDFC Bank Limited Bangladesh Kimura Kenji, Vice President Golam Kibria, Secretary General of Monoghor Kirti Shikhan Chakma, and Special Adviser of JICA Bangladesh Office Kyoko Amada.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event, Minister Dipen Dewan said that such initiatives will play an important role in ensuring quality education for students in the Hill Tracts.
Under this programme, 40 students from small ethnic groups in the CHT will get the opportunity to study in the Kumon Method through the BRAC Kumon In-School Programme.
