2 get life-term in Pirojpur

PIROJPUR, May 17: Judge SM Moniruzzman of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal of District Judge Court on Thursday afternoon sentenced a man to life-term imprisonment for raping a minor girl and awarded a woman the same punishment and also fined each Tk 10,000, in default, to serve three more months in jail.
The convicts are Md Nazrul Islam Sardar, 35, son of late Sultan Sardar and Golapi Begum of Kabutarkhali Village under Mathbaria Upazila of the district. 
According to the court documents, the convict Nazrul Islam Sardar with the help of Golapi Begum violated the girl on August 17, 2016 near a cyclone shelter in the village on her way home from school. 
A case was filed in this connection on August 27, 2016. Following judicial procedures, the verdict was declared after 10 years on Thursday.
