The Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), Khondoker Rashed Maqsood, alongwith four commissioners, has finally resigned from their positions.
On Thursday (May 4), they submitted their resignation letters to the Financial Institutions Division, a BSEC release confirmed.
The resigned commissioners are Md Mohsin Chowdhury, Md Ali Akbar, Farzana Lalarukh, and Md Saifuddin.
The resignations come amid prolonged instability in the capital market, growing frustration among investors and internal dissatisfaction within the commission.
Khondoker Rashed Maqsood was appointed as Chairman of the BSEC on August 18, 2024, for a four-year term.
Mohsin Chowdhury was appointed as a commissioner on June 2, 2024, while, Ali Akbar was appointed on August 28, Farzana Lalarukh on September 3 and most recently, Md Saifuddin assumed office as a commissioner on July 29, 2025.
