Pranay Verma hosts farewell reception

The outgoing Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma and his spouse Mrs Manu Verma hosted a farewell reception on Monday at India House at the Indian High Commission complex before his departure from Bangladesh. In his speech he recalled many memories during his tenure in Bangladesh and wished a strong India-Bangladesh friendship.  

He also thanked the guests from political parties, bureaucracy, diplomacy and business group who were present at the reception. Among others, BNP Secretary General and LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Law Minister Md. Asaduzzaman, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo, Jatiya Party Chairman GM Kader, Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) Advisory Committee Member Mujahidul Islam Selim, CPB General Secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, eminent economist Dr. Debapriya Battacharya, CPD Fellow Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, Culture figure Ramendu Mazumdar, were present at the reception. 

Mr. Pranay Verma is leaving Dhaka on May 26 to join his new assignment as Indian Amabssador to Belgium and European Union. Before arriving Dhaka on September 21, 2022 he was India's Ambassador to Vietnam.

Meanwhile, the new Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Mr. Dinesh Trivedi, a former Minister and a veteran politician of India's ruling party BJP, is likely to arrive in Dhaka soon.
