The homebound journey of Dhaka residents by road, rail, and water ways for Eid-ul-Azha continues.
Passenger movement is gradually increasing at major transport hubs amid heightened security and ongoing preparations.
At Kamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka on Saturday, a slight rise in passenger numbers was seen compared to the previous day. Trains heading toward northern districts experienced relatively higher crowds, while services toward eastern regions remained comparatively less crowded.
According to the railway sources, although the official Eid holiday has not fully begun, many passengers are sending family members to their hometowns in advance to avoid last-minute congestion.
On Saturday alone, 46 intercity trains and 23 local and commuter trains were scheduled to depart from Dhaka's Kamalapur Railway Station to different destinations.
Passengers at Kamalapur railway station said they preferred early travel to avoid the intense rush expected in the coming days. One passenger, Sharifa, said that she was traveling early with her children as her husband would join later, adding that the journey was still comfortable due to low passenger pressure. Another student said he chose to travel early to avoid the severe congestion that usually builds up closer to Eid.
