The operating hours of Dhaka Metro Rail will be extended by 20 minutes at night from June 7, aiming to improve commuter convenience, according to Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL).
Officials said the decision has been taken considering passenger demand, and the new schedule will come into effect from Sunday.
Under the revised timetable, the last trains from Uttara North Station will depart at 9:50pm instead of 9:30pm, while the final train from Motijheel will leave at 10:30pm instead of 10:10pm.
DMTCL sources said no additional train services will be introduced during the extended period. Instead, the existing schedule will continue with a 20-minute headway for the final operations.
Preparatory testing and operational arrangements have already been completed and an official notification is expected soon.
Earlier, in October last year, metro rail operating hours were extended by one hour, advancing morning services by 30 minutes and extending night services by the same duration.
DMTCL officials also clarified that an additional trip will be introduced from June 7, ensuring smoother end-of-day operations on the Uttara-Motijheel route.
