Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that the recruitment process for vacant posts in various government ministries, departments and agencies will begin soon.
He emphasized that filling these positions is crucial to delivering government services to citizens more effectively and efficiently at their doorstep. The government is treating the matter with the highest priority and is working actively to address it.
While responding to a supplementary question from BNP lawmaker Abul Kalam of Cumilla-9 in the Jatiya Sangsad on Wednesday, the Prime Minister said, ''A number of important positions in different government institutions have remained vacant for a long time. Filling these posts will make government operations more dynamic and help ensure better public services. The government is reviewing the matter with great importance. The recruitment process for these vacant posts will begin as soon as possible, InshaAllah.''
Tarique Rahman informed the House that the government has decided to recruit 500,000 public employees. Of these, the recruitment process for 2,879 positions under the Ministry of Public Administration and its subordinate departments and agencies is already underway.
The parliamentary session began at 3PM under the chairmanship of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed. The first 30 minutes of the sitting were allocated to the Prime Minister’s question-and-answer session. During this period, the Prime Minister answered three of the five starred questions on the agenda and also responded to related supplementary questions.
Government Believes in Balanced Development
Responding to a supplementary question from BNP lawmaker Anisur Rahman Talukdar Dulu of Madaripur-2, the Prime Minister said that the current government believes in balanced development across the country and that no discrimination will be made between constituencies represented by ruling party and opposition lawmakers in implementing development activities.
He noted that during a recent meeting on parliamentary affairs, the Leader of the Opposition had complained that several opposition MPs had not received certain government assistance distributed before Eid. After learning of the matter, he instructed the Minister and State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) to take immediate action.
The Prime Minister said, ''Through this directive, I wanted to make it clear that the current government believes in balanced development. Just as constituencies represented by ruling party lawmakers receive government support, opposition-held constituencies will also receive full cooperation from the government. We are working to ensure equal development opportunities for all regions of the country.”
