The government has announced plans to introduce a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) system featuring “One Citizen, One ID, One Wallet” to simplify and secure access to public and private services and accelerate the transition to a cashless digital economy.
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury on Thursday said the government is working to establish a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) framework to make service delivery more efficient, secure and user-friendly.
Presenting the FY2026-27 budget in Parliament, he said the proposed system will integrate “One Citizen, One ID, One Wallet” to streamline access to both government and private services while promoting a cashless digital economy.
The initiative aims to expand the use of technology in economic activities and improve digital financial inclusion across the country.
The finance minister also said a coordinated action plan has been developed to enhance Bangladesh’s capacity in semiconductor technology, involving local and expatriate Bangladeshi experts, technologists and entrepreneurs.
He added that the government is working to transform Bangladesh into a global electronics manufacturing hub through a unified policy framework, appropriate regulatory measures and financial incentives, in collaboration with the private sector.
