Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider held a courtesy meeting with Education Minister Dr A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milan on Sunday, discussing ways to strengthen cooperation in the education sector between the two countries.

During the meeting, the high commissioner briefed the education minister on the progress of the “Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor” initiative and highlighted areas of potential collaboration.

The two sides discussed cooperation in youth development, technical and vocational training, digital learning, physical education and recognition of educational institutions.

At the end of the meeting, Imran Haider presented a football produced by Pakistan’s renowned ‘Forward Sports’ in Sialkot to the education minister. Earlier, 1,000 such high-quality footballs were handed over to the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education for distribution among government schools in Bangladesh.

The initiative is expected to encourage students’ participation in football while supporting physical education, health and fitness among young people.

During the discussion, the high commissioner said Sialkot is recognised as one of the world’s leading football manufacturing hubs. A significant portion of the world’s footballs, including official FIFA World Cup match balls, are produced there, including the Brazuca (2014), Telstar (2018), Al Rihla (2022) and the Trionda, the official match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Education Minister Dr A.N.M. Ehsanul Haque Milan appreciated the gesture and expressed optimism about further expanding bilateral cooperation in the areas discussed during the meeting.
