Measles claims 3 more lives

Three more children died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours, while 1,125 new cases of measles and suspected measles infections were reported, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the newly reported cases, 160 were laboratory-confirmed as measles, while the remaining patients showed symptoms consistent with the highly contagious viral disease.

Since March 15, 2026 a total of 590 children have died with measles-like symptoms, while 93 others died after being confirmed with the disease. The cumulative death toll has now reached 683.

Health authorities reported that 93,755 children have developed measles symptoms since March 15. During the same period, 11,171 children were confirmed to have contracted measles, bringing the total number of measles and suspected measles cases to 104,926.

The DGHS data also showed that 77,743 children have been admitted to hospitals with measles symptoms during the period. Of them, 73,985 have recovered and been discharged.

In the past 24 hours alone, 884 infected children were admitted to hospitals, while 1,136 others were released after recovery.
