A total of 557 members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces’ Skilled Technical Men for Kuwait (STMK) programme, stranded in Bangladesh since the Covid-19 pandemic, have appealed for government intervention to facilitate their return to jobs in the Kuwait Army.

Of them, around 250 members have remained unemployed for nearly six years and are now facing severe financial hardship.

The appeal was made at a press conference held at the National Press Club on Sunday, where the affected members urged the prime minister and other senior authorities to take immediate steps to resolve the issue.
