22 judges transferred in judicial reshuffle

The government has transferred 22 judges holding the rank of district and sessions judge as part of an administrative reshuffle in the judiciary.

The Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a gazette notification on Sunday regarding the transfers.

According to the notification, the transfers and new appointments were made in consultation with the Supreme Court of Bangladesh. The judges will continue to perform their duties at the new workplaces until further orders.

Among those transferred, Khulna Divisional Special Judge Md Asharul Islam has been appointed as the district and sessions judge of Narail, while Sunamganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mohammad Habibur Rahman has been made the district and sessions judge of Sunamganj.

Nilphamari Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Judge Priya Tasnim Mahmud has been appointed as the district and sessions judge of Nilphamari.

Administrative Tribunal-2 Dhaka member Mohammad Al Mamun has been posted as the district and sessions judge of Kishoreganj, while Chattogram Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Md Zahidul Haque has been appointed as the district and sessions judge of Panchagarh.

Rangpur District and Sessions Judge Fazle Mohammad Naim has been transferred to the Chattogram Speedy Trial Tribunal.

The notification also stated that Noakhali District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Mosaddek Ibne Aziz has been attached to the Law and Justice Division, while Inspector General of Registration Kazi Abubakar Hannan has been appointed as the Chattogram district and sessions judge.

Several other judges serving as attached officers of the Law and Justice Division have also been assigned to different courts, including the Dhaka Divisional Special Judge Court, Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Court, Sylhet Special Tribunal and other judicial bodies.

The ministry said the reshuffle was made in the public interest to increase efficiency in judicial activities and meet administrative requirements.

The transferred judges have been asked to hand over their current responsibilities and join their new workplaces by June 24.
