25 houses gutted in Tongi fire

A fire that broke out in a house in the Mudafa Paschimpara area of Gazipur’s Tongi early Wednesday morning reduced 25 residential houses to ashes. However, no casualties were reported. 

According to eyewitnesses, smoke and flames were first seen coming from the house in the area at around 6:20am. Local residents immediately rushed to the spot and tried to bring the fire under control.

On information, three units of the Tongi Fire Service arrived at the spot and began firefighting operations. The blaze was completely extinguished after about one and a half hours of efforts, also assisted by local residents.
